Even if you’re 100% sure about what industry you want to work within, life in your dream career might be a little bit different than you think. Sometimes it is just not what you expect when you enter the workforce, even if you’re prepared with the most up-to-date qualifications. Just take Martin graduate Lea Schodel’s career journey for instance.
“I’ve been in the financial planning industry almost 15 years now. I started out young and after studying business I landed my first role in a financial planning firm as the office junior. Over the years I gained experience from many great mentors, studied for my additional qualifications and quickly climbed the corporate ladder to become a financial planner.”
Advanced Diploma of Business Management and an Advanced Diploma of Business Administration Lea was ready for a long career in the business world, but what she didn’t count on was discovering yoga – and how it would change her life.
Having traditionally focused the majority of her mental energy on the left ‘lateral’ side of her brain, Lea discovered (that through yoga) you can open your right ‘creative’ side. By combining these two ways of thinking, individuals could get a greater understanding of not only their finances but their life – this is when Lea made the bold move to create her own unique career.
“I’ve always done things differently and financial planning is no exception. I love a challenge and I realized that there was a great opportunity for me to do something different. And that lead me to discover my goal as a financial planner of empowerment – not advice.”
Today, Lea offers financial planning advice to people right around Australia through her website. By cleverly combining financial planning with her unique form of communication and yoga techniques, Lea has helped countless people achieve their financial, personal and life-long goals.
“When it comes to being a success, happiness is one of my definitions of success and it makes me incredibly happy to empower others to take control and find flow with money and wealth.”
