Marketing a wedding, do you have what it takes?

Meet Martin student Pauline Alevers. Studying a Diploma of Marketing at the Melbourne campus, Pauline is currently using her marketing skills to promote the very first Martin wedding. From collecting visual content to gathering responses from the other students, working on this collaborative project has been a highlight in Pauline’s year.

“My job was to assist with all marketing a media activities for the Marry Me Martin project. I also got the opportunity to test out my negotiating skills when it came time to contact wedding cake suppliers – seriously that was no piece of cake!”

Between managing the marketing and media efforts, contacting local media outlets and (finally) finding a cake, Pauline had time to focus on building her communication skills. Whether it was liaising with the graphic design students or talking about promotions with the events cohort, Pauline loved the entire Marry Me Martin project.

“My favourite part of working on this project was the interaction and communication that I had with all of the team. I also loved working collaboratively in order to complete the tasks needed to run a magical wedding.”

So what has been the biggest lesson that Pauline will take away from this once-in-a-lifetime experience?  Was it the fact that she had the opportunity to market someone’s wedding? Perhaps it was learning how to work with other teams?

“Honestly there wasn’t a day that I didn’t learn something. I learned the importance of using certain colours from the graphics guys and how to network from the events guys. I will always remember the time I spent working on the Marry Me Martin project and the many friends I made.”
