Since graduating from Martin, Brittany has made her dream of a career in travel and tourism a reality. Brittany is currently a full-time corporate travel consultant for American Express Global Business Travel – and she loves it.

So what’s the best thing about working in this industry?

“It has to be the people. You get to work with new people every day and it is always something new and exciting. Being able to produce an itinerary that makes your client happy is the best feeling; hearing their thanks makes it even better!”

Brittany’s industry journey started with the Diploma of Travel and Tourism, which she completed at Martin’s Melbourne campus. As well as the use of in-depth booking systems like Galileo, the course gave her all the knowledge and skills to work within her team, as well as with customers from all walks of life.

All incredibly useful, no doubt; but the most valuable thing she learned?

“We are details people! Travel consultants need to be able to take note of the most in-depth details in order to provide the best service to our clients,” says Brittany. “And Martin taught me that.”

Along with a knack for attention to detail, being able to build a rapport with clients is essential.

“Building that happy, friendly work relationship enables you to get to know your clients better and cater your service to each individual,” she says.

It comes as no big surprise that the best travel consultants are also the friendliest.

What (and where!) is next for Brittany?

While Brittany has been busy working since graduation, she plans to go on a European cruise soon – and that’s just the beginning.

“I want to experience all the difference cultures and countries,” she says, so a future filled with global adventures is on the cards. Working in the travel industry certainly does have its perks.

It’s clear we can expect big things from this talented travel enthusiast.
